Abstract  Following the globalization and the tide of worldwide industrial shift, the major port city at the key position of global supply chain plays more and more formidable roles in polar nucleus in the logistics economy. The superior location and scale transport infrastructure of harbour make the harbour become the service base of international trade. At the same time, modern logistics industry has become the third profit source. It rises with carrying on self-change and also changes the social economic operation method through chain management model. In a word, with these characteristics of modern logistics industries and the superior location of port city combine together, it has promoted the logistics industry's great progress in the port city and comes in to being industrial clusters, molding new industrial space of port city, constructing the city logistics network based on Hub-and-Spoke model to lead the layout of logistics distribution network, making it become the huge engine of strengthening city's convergence and radiation energy. It will certainly promote alterations of industrial structure and the functional suburban area in the port city, and then take part in the urban spatial reengineering of port city.
This text uses related theories of economics and the urban geography, carries on the theories analysis and combines the research on substantial evidence of modern logistics development in Dalian to give the argument. First, the article embarks from the characteristics of port city's spatial structure and the influence of logistics industry to the port city development during the new period, and discusses the mechanism that modern logistics industry influences the port city's spatial structure. Second, through profound analysis to modern logistics development of Dalian city, the article discusses that modern logistics industry influences upon urban spatial reengineering of port city from the following three aspects. High interaction of the port logistics with the harbor industry predominates the urban spatial reengineering of port city; The area of the large logistics park molds the new city industry space; Efficient center system of city logistics——the city logistics network based on Hub-and-Spoke modal promotes the network optimization of port city's space.
The creative performances of this article display these aspects. It discusses the mechanism that modern logistics industry influences on the port city's space, combining the modern logistics industry and the port city's characteristics at first time. It leads the concept of logistics network based on Hub-and-Spoke modal in area in to the research of single city's space at the first time.
